Accepted input
- Network name (SSID, up to 32 characters).
- Password (up to 63 characters) when encryption is not "Open".
- Encryption type (WPA, WEP or Open).
- Whether the network is hidden.
Limits
- SSID up to 32 characters.
- Password up to 63 characters (WPA passphrase limit).
- Output is an SVG image that scales to any size.
Local processing
- The QR payload and the SVG image are produced in your browser.
- No SSID or password is sent to any server.
How to use WiFi QR Generator
- Enter the network name exactly as it appears on devices.
- Pick the encryption type and type the password (or leave it out for open networks).
- Press Generate QR code and download the SVG.
- Print the SVG or display it on a screen. Modern phones scan it with the camera app.
What it does
- Produces the standard WIFI: payload recognised by iOS Camera, Android and most QR apps.
- Supports WPA, WEP and open networks, plus hidden-SSID networks.
- Output is an SVG that prints sharply at any size.
Limits and things to know
- The QR code does not hide the password — anyone who scans the image joins the network. Treat the printed QR like a written password.
- WPA3 networks use the same WPA payload and work on modern phones.
Example
Sharing the guest network
Put the guest WiFi details into the form, generate the QR code, print it on a card near the front door. Visitors scan it with their phone camera to join without typing the password.
Frequently asked questions
Does this expose my password?
The QR code encodes the password. Anyone who scans the image joins the network, so treat the printed QR like a written password.
Why does my phone not prompt to join?
Some Android camera apps need the Google Lens QR scanner. iOS Camera recognises the WiFi QR payload directly from version 11 onward.
Can I use this for WPA3?
Yes. Set the encryption to WPA. WPA3 networks accept the same payload and modern phones will offer to join.
