Accepted input
- An IPv4 address in CIDR notation (for example 10.0.0.5/16). A bare address defaults to /32.
Limits
- IPv4 only. IPv6 is not supported yet.
- Prefix length must be between 0 and 32.
Local processing
- The subnet math runs entirely in your browser.
- Nothing you type is uploaded or stored.
How to use Subnet Calculator
- Enter the address in CIDR notation, for example 192.168.1.1/24.
- Press Calculate subnet to see the full breakdown.
- Download the report if you want a copy of the result.
What it does
- Reports subnet mask, wildcard, network and broadcast addresses.
- Counts total addresses and usable hosts, with RFC 3021 /31 support.
- A bare address defaults to /32 so you can inspect a single host.
Limits and things to know
- IPv6 is not supported in this version.
- The tool does not check whether the address is globally routable; it just reports the math.
Example
Planning a /24 home network
Enter 192.168.1.1/24 to confirm the network is 192.168.1.0, the broadcast is 192.168.1.255, and there are 254 usable hosts from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a /31 report two usable hosts?
RFC 3021 allows /31 links for point-to-point connections. Both addresses are usable in that case, so this tool follows the modern convention.
What happens with /32?
A /32 is a single host. There is one address, no broadcast, and the host is the address itself.
Can I enter a subnet mask like 255.255.255.0?
Use the CIDR Converter on this site for mask-to-prefix conversion, then come back here with the /24 form.
